Hand-building with Clay – Adult 5-week series (Ages 14+)

Introduction to Clay  During this course, we will cover the basics of working with clay as well as the three main clay hand-building techniques – pinch pots, slab building, and coiling.   We will also include discussions on wedging, applying textures and embellishments, carving leather-hard clay, properly storing and wrapping works in progress, recycling clay, glazing, firing, and studio maintenance.

Course length: 5 weeks Cost: $280 per person

The next session begins Thursday, September 7th and runs through October 12th  (no class on Thursday, September 21) 

includes: Set of clay tools 10 lbs of low-fire earthenware clay (Additional clay may be purchased for $3 per lb.) Instruction Studio tools Designated storage space for work in progress Use of clay studio during Open Studio time at a discounted rate of $10 per hour* 

*the provided studio is not in use for parties or other instruction – call in advance.

All work to be fired is subject to a firing fee of 10 cents per cubic inch.

 A minimum of 4 people is required to run the session.
